Touch

Tattoos

"A person completely tattooed in a signal coherent scene dictated by body contour and self-image makes you wonder about symbolism, decoration, and identity,""Tattoos make unique the surface of one's self, embody one's secret dream, adorn with magic emblems the Altamira of the flesh. It is also a form of self-destruction." - Diane Ackerman, a natural history of the senses.

Artist's Statement: This represents what tattoos mean to me, when I see tattoos I see art that is formed in a way for the person that is wearing them on their body. For some people, when they see too many tattoos on someone their first thought is that oh this person is not a good person, they are a delinquent or criminal but we don't know that if they are good or bad.  We have this perspective of what tattoos are supposed to be for people. The tattoos that I have are meaningful and reminders of what I went through the hard times in my life to be where I am today. Tattoos represent someone's personality and what kind of person they are by the art pieces on their body.

The skin has eyes

" Touch allows us to find our way in the world in darkness or other circumstances where we can't fully use our other sense. By combining eyesight and touch, primates excel at locating objects in space."

Artist's Statement: To how senses are of greater value when walking amongst the earth, as it's an important value to noticing everything around us. We take it for granted and that is the basis of learning, when being in total darkness my sense struck at the moment to help me figure my surroundings than my eyes being completely open in the light.
